It is important to Dr. Katherine (Katie) Field that her patients know, she loves what she does. She has been passionate about medicine and health for as long as she can remember. Looking back on home videos and yearbook entries the answer for future aspiration has always been the same: doctor.
In 2013, Dr. Field completed her doctor of naturopathic medicine at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine and was the recipient of the "Award for Clinical Excellence" given to the top clinician in each graduating class. After running a successful practice in Vancouver, she moved back home to Quadra Island and is thrilled to be part of the team at Vital Roots Wellness serving the community she grew up in.
Dr. Field’s reasons for wanting to be a doctor have always been the same; she loves helping people achieve optimal health, the science of discovery and especially the hunt for the root cause. She is passionate about the philosophy of naturopathic medicine and is dedicated to the tenant “doctor as teacher”. She believes that each person has the innate ability to heal given the right tools, support and guidance. Being an ND allows her to help people both in body and mind, and for that she is truly grateful.
At Vital Roots Wellness, Dr. Field has a family practice and works with patients of all populations. She has a special interest in fertility, pregnancy and postpartum care, children's health and wellness, digestive health, pain management and women's health and menopause support.
When not at work, Dr. Field loves spending time with her husband and young son. She is a dedicated amateur gardener, enjoys hiking our beautiful, local trails, tinkering in the kitchen (healthy desserts are a favorite!), and sitting down with a hot cup of tea and a good book.
